The Beginning

From atelier
to the world

Our founder, Élise Morel, spent 12 years as a formulation chemist before launching LUMIÈRE from a rented studio in the 11th arrondissement of Paris. The first product — our now-iconic Velvet Noir Lipstick — was created after she couldn't find a matte formula that didn't strip the lips.

Today, LUMIÈRE is sold in 34 countries. The atelier has grown into a full R&D facility. But the question that started it all remains the same: what does skin truly need?
